PROGRAMS & PROJECTS.
We operate two programs aimed at fostering strong parent-child relationships and creating an empowered Parent-Child environment, thereby unlocking their potential, promoting their well-being, and maximizing opportunities for growth.
In the heart of BCU's mission lies the belief in the transformative power of engaged parenting. Working in communities where child marriage, teenage pregnancies, and child labor and neglect are prevalent issues. BCU's is committed to breaking the cycle of unrealized potential.
Parenting Training
We are working to accessibly provide a child development education to the front liners of child development, in particular parents, caregivers and teachers.
Our 3-month curriculum-based training program delivers modules focused on the fundamentals of child development. Geared towards nurturing foundational parent-child relationships, it aims to equip parents with a deeper understanding of child-rearing responsibilities, emphasizing their crucial role in fostering their child's success.
Covering 12 topics including parenting science, leadership at home, self-esteem, positive parenting, communication, naming emotions, child development and discipline, each module provides practical knowledge and skills essential for child growth.
Our tailored curriculum addresses day-to-day concerns, offering insights and strategies to support the development of successful children.
Sex Education Campaign
Our model focuses on empowering parents to initiate conversations about sex education and partnering with schools to educate teenagers on crucial topics such as puberty, sexuality, boundaries, consent, birth control, body autonomy, and safety.
The program also covers menstruation and menstrual hygiene, aiming to alleviate anxiety, stigma, and fear surrounding menstruation among both parents and teenage children, therefore reducing absenteeism from school during that period. By equipping parents with comprehensive knowledge, we empower them to support their children positively through this natural process.
This approach not only safeguards teenage girls from potential dangers but also ensures they have access to essential menstrual hygiene products, enabling them to stay in school and avoid stigmatization or menstrual trauma. We firmly believe that parental involvement in sex education fosters openness, strengthens relationships, and facilitates informed sexual choices.
Moreover, our program serves as an educational opportunity for young parents to learn about their own sexual and reproductive health. By creating a safe and supportive environment for discussions, we aim to empower both parents and teenagers with the knowledge and resources necessary to make informed decisions regarding their health and well-being.
Through collaborative efforts between parents, schools, and community organizations, we strive to address the urgent need for comprehensive sex education and menstrual hygiene awareness in marginalized communities, ultimately promoting healthier and safer futures for all.
Community Empowerment
BCU operates with a strong focus on addressing issues in hard-to-reach communities, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in decision-making. We value partnerships and collaboration, working closely with community members to identify challenges, plan training sessions, and implement effective solutions.
We ensure that our programs are tailored to meet the specific needs and preferences of each community we serve, fostering a sense of ownership and empowerment among residents.
BCU is dedicated to empowering individuals and building resilient societies. Through education and support, we aim to equip community members with the necessary skills and resources to overcome challenges.
Our approach emphasizes teamwork and open communication, encouraging community members to share their concerns and actively participate in decision-making processes. By working together, we harness the collective strengths of the community to drive positive change and create lasting development.
